7th grade science deepens students’ understanding of life sciences while connecting concepts across earth and physical science. Our program develops analytical skills and scientific reasoning to prepare students for high school biology, chemistry, and physics.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
7th grade science focuses on life sciences, with an emphasis on cells, genetics, and ecosystems, while continuing to integrate earth and physical science concepts. Students study photosynthesis, respiration, heredity, DNA structure, and adaptations in living things. Physical science units include chemical reactions, properties of matter, and energy flow. Lessons also explore human impact on the environment and strategies for conservation.
ASSESSMENTS
Lab-based assessments, written explanations, and research projects are used to measure understanding. Students receive feedback on the accuracy of data collection, depth of explanation, and application of scientific vocabulary.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Explain cell functions and processes.
- Describe how traits are inherited.
- Identify chemical and physical changes.
- Analyze food webs and energy transfer.
- Evaluate human impact on ecosystems.
- Design and conduct scientific investigations.
