5th Grade Math Tutoring

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students work on mastering operations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We also focus on order of operations, exponents, and numerical expressions, ensuring students can solve multi-step problems with accuracy. Geometry topics include coordinate grids, classifying shapes by properties, and calculating area, perimeter, and volume. Data analysis is taught through interpreting line plots, bar graphs, and tables, while measurement lessons cover conversions within the metric and customary systems. Each class combines teacher-led instruction, guided problem solving, and independent work to reinforce understanding.

ASSESSMENTS

Students receive regular quizzes, end-of-unit reviews, and problem-solving challenges to measure progress in all areas, from computation fluency to real-world application. Assessments are carefully designed to pinpoint specific skill gaps, allowing for targeted re-teaching or enrichment. Homework assignments are reviewed in detail during each session, with worked-out solutions provided for all problems. Students also complete periodic cumulative reviews to strengthen long-term retention of previously covered material.
